Laurel
In the kitchen, it is used to flavour meat and fish; as a home remedy to keep moths out of wardrobes (an excellent and more fragrant alternative to camphor); to prepare refreshing decoctions with digestive properties or foot baths; or, when infused in alcohol, to produce a fragrant and aromatic liqueur with digestive, stimulating and antiseptic properties, which is also effective against coughs and bronchitis.
The laurel is an evergreen shrub. It prefers soft, well-drained soil; it can be planted in full sun or in shaded areas: water as required. It does not tolerate waterlogging. It is not sensitive to the cold and can withstand temperatures below –15°C.
