With a bitter, slightly tart and very fragrant flavour, it is used to flavour drinks – first and foremost the famous Mojito – as well as fruit salads, fresh salads, meat and fish. It is widely used to flavour tea (especially green tea), liqueurs, as well as wine and vinegar.
It is an easy-to-grow perennial plant, very hardy and invasive, and thrives in a variety of climates. It prefers fertile, humus-rich soil and can grow in both full sun and shaded areas. During the summer, it must be watered regularly and generously.
